We report an ultrafast electron diffraction study of silver nanocrystalsunder surface plasmon resonance excitation, leading to a concertedfragmentation. By examining simultaneously transient structural, thermal, andCoulombic signatures of the prefragmented state, an electronically drivennonthermal fragmentation scenario is proposed.
