We study the transport properties of strongly interacting matter in thecontext of ultrarelativistic heavy ion collision experiments. We calculate thetransport coefficients viz. shear viscosity ($\eta$) and electricalconductivity ($\sigma_{\rm{el}}$) of the quark-gluon plasma phase in thepresence of momentum anisotropy arising from different expansion rates of themedium in longitudinal and transverse direction. We solve the relativisticBoltzmann kinetic equation in relaxation time approximation to calculate theshear viscosity and electrical conductivity. The calculations are performedwithin the quasiparticle model to estimate these transport coefficients anddiscuss the connection between them. We also compare the electricalconductivity results calculated from the quasiparticle model with the idealcase. We compare our results with the corresponding results obtained in thedifferent lattice as well as model calculations.
