It has been previously shown that, for the number of dimensions d < 25, the one-loop planar string diagram is simply a multiplicative (coupling constant) renormalization of the Born term. It is shown here that for d = 25 or 26 the extra divergent term gives, in addition to a further multiplicative renormalization, a renormalization of the slope of the Regge trajectories. (AIP)
