A model of two coupled complex scalar fields is studied at finite temperatureand under an external magnetic field. The results are obtained in the contextof the nonperturbative method of the optimized perturbation theory andcontrasted with those obtained in perturbation theory and in the one-loopapproximation. The emergence of phenomena related to inverse symmetry breakingand symmetry nonrestoration are analyzed.
