Baryon production is studied within the framework of quantized fragmentationof QCD string. Baryons appear in the model in a fairly intuitive way, with helpof causally connected string breakups. A simple helical approximation of QCDflux tube with parameters constrained by mass spectrum of light mesons issufficient to reproduce masses of light baryons.
