Coexisting fluctuations towards various ordered states are ubiquitous instrongly correlated electronic systems. In particular, measurements ofunderdoped cuprate high-temperature superconductors reveal evidence for shortrange charge order in parallel to large superconducting fluctuations. Here weuse a non-linear sigma model to describe a system with N competing orders, andcalculate its transverse thermoelectric transport coefficient in theanalytically tractable limit of large N . Our results, which determine thecontribution of order parameter fluctuations to the Nernst signal, areappropriate for high temperatures in the case of finite N . They are similar topreviously obtained results within a model of Gaussian superconductingfluctuations.
