We have investigated the electronic properties of elliptical quantum dots ina perpendicular external magnetic field, and in the presence of the Rashbaspin-orbit interaction. Our work indicates that the Fock-Darwin spectra displaystrong signature of Rashba spin-orbit coupling even for a low magnetic field,as the anisotropy of the quantum dot is increased. An explanation of thispronounced effect with respect to the anisotropy is presented. The strongspin-orbit coupling effect manifests itself prominently in the correspondingdipole-allowed optical transitions, and hence is susceptible to directexperimental observation.
