Using the recently developed version of the GW method employing the one-siteapproximation and self-consistent quasiparticle basis set we calculated theelectronic structure of 3d and 4d transition metals at experimental atomicvolumes. The results are compared with traditional local density approach andwith experimental XPS and BIS spectra. Our results indicate that this techniquecan be used as a practical starting point for more sophisticated many-bodystudies of realistic electronic structures.Comment: revtex4, 4 pages, 2 color EPS figure
