We measure the local harmonic generation from superconducting thin films atmicrowave frequencies to investigate the intrinsic nonlinear Meissner effectnear Tc in zero magnetic field. Both second and third harmonic generation aremeasured to identify time-reversal symmetry breaking (TRSB) and time-reversalsymmetric (TRS) nonlinearities. We perform a systematic doping-dependent studyof the nonlinear response and find that the TRS characteristic nonlinearitycurrent density scale follows the doping dependence of the de-pairing criticalcurrent density. We also extract a spontaneous TRSB characteristic currentdensity scale that onsets at Tc, grows with decreasing temperature, andsystematically decreases in magnitude (at fixed T/Tc) with under-doping. Theorigin of this current scale could be Josephson circulating currents or thespontaneous magnetization associated with a TRSB order parameter.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, re-submitted to PRB in Sep 200
