The strongly nonlinear regime of Dyakonov-Shur instability is studiedanalytically and by computer simulations. The instability leads tohigh-amplitude stationary oscillations caused by shock wave formation in theFET channel. The numerically found shape and speed of the shock waves are welldescribed in terms of the conventional hydrodynamics.
