Microcavity exciton-polaritons are two-dimensional bosonic quasiparticlescomposed by excitons and photons. Using model Hamiltonian with parametersgenerated from ab initio density-functional theory and Bathe-Salpeter Equationcalculations, we investigate the exciton and the exciton-polariton propertiesof hexagnonal boron nitride (hBN) based microcavity. We show that hBN basedmicrocavities, including monolayer and all-dielectric ones, are promising inoptoelectronic applications. Room temperature exciton-polariton Bose-EinsteinCondensation can be achieved because of the large oscillating strength andbinding energy of the exciton, and the strong interaction between theexciton-polaritons and the longitudinal optical phonons. Based on this BECstate, exciton-polariton mediated superconducting device can also be fabricatedat such moderate temperatures using the microcavity structure proposed byLaussy et al.
