Enhancement of thermal conductivity via surface electromagnetic waves (SEWs)supported in nanostructures has recently drawn attention as a remedy for issuesraised due to the reduction of thermal conductivity in nanoscale confinement.Among them, multilayered structures on a substrate are prevalent in nano-sizedsystems, such as electronic nanodevices, meaning that analysis on thosestructures is indispensable. In this work, three basic multilayered structuresare selected and the analytical expressions for SEWs supported in eachstructure are derived. This analytical approach enables us to figure out whichfactors are crucial for enhancing SEW thermal conductivity using multilayers.It is also found that the solution can be extended to various materials andprovide the guidelines on which configurations are desirable for increasing thethermal conductivity. Furthermore, the analytical solutions reduce thecalculation time significantly such that the optimal configuration, which canadditionally yield SEW thermal conductivity of 1.27 W/m$\cdot$K correspondingto 90\% of the thermal conductivity of bulk glass, is found with the geneticalgorithm. This study thus provides a new method for efficiently managingthermal issues in nano-sized devices.
