Minutes of the Fourth Meeting (London, 1971) have not been published. It was agreed that salient points of the Fourth Meeting would be included in a Report ( 1970-1974) to ICSB, appended to these present Minutes. 4. List of approved names; list of minimal standards. Earlier in 1974, L. R. Hill had prepared two draft documents, submitted to the Chairman and Secretary. It was agreed that the Secretary would distribute these to all members for comments. The need to press forward this activity of the Subcommittee was emphasized. 5. The Subcommittee may need to reconsider infrasubspecific designations (e.g., in Staphylococcus aureus) previously rejected (Minutes of the Second Meeting, Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol. 17:381-382, 1967). Comments by members will be welcomed and should be sent to the Secretary. 6. Joint meeting of the Subcommittees on Phage-Typing of Staphylococci and on Taxonomy of Staphylococci and Micrococci. It had not been possible to hold a further joint meeting of the two Subcommittees since the first meeting (8 April 1971, London); however, a joint meeting will be held later in the week in Brno (vide infra). 7. Future activities of the Subcommittee. It was recommended that future meetings be held at 1to 2-year intervals, mainly in Europe, to enable most of the membership to attend. In view of the cancellation of the originally intended Fifth Meeting at Jerusalem, it was decided to abandon the policy of holding Subcommittee meetings only during International Congresses, but rather to adopt a policy of meeting when and wherever possible. It was further recommended that the next meeting be held in Warsaw, September 1975, at the time of the 3rd International Symposium on Staphylococci and Staphylococcal Infections. 8. Committee membership. Dr. Baird-Parker indicated that he wished to resign from the Chair, but would like to remain a Subcommittee member. Dr. Baird-Parker’s resignation was accepted and he was thanked for his services to the Subcommittee. L. R. Hill was nominated to the position of Chairman, the name to be submitted to postal ballot by the Secretary. Members would, at the same time, be asked to indicate their own ability or wish to remain on the Subcommittee. The current membership of the Subcommittee is, in addition to the three above-mentioned persons: J. B. Evans, L. Grun, D. A. A. Mossel, P. Oeding, A. Torres Pereira, W. E. Kloos, and K. H.
