In theMemoires of theRoyal Academie ofParis , for the Year 1717. but now very lately published, there is one very remarkable Essay, by Mr.Cassini con­cerning theAnnual Parallax of theFix'd Stars , and particularly ofSirius ; and in conclusion, he determines the Diameter ofSirius to be as much bigger than that of theSun , as theSun's is greater than that of the Earth, which he supposes to be 100 times: And the distance from theSun to theEarth being certainly about 100 Diameters of theSun , it will follow, that the Globe ofSirius must be a Sphere, whose Diameter must equal the distance between theEarth and Sun .
