The paper describes the construction of a cinematographic recordinginterferometer based on the Jamin type. By using the interferometer tubes asreaction cells the instrument has been used for following thephotopolymerization of styrene, methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate and vinylacetate. The sensitivity of the apparatus permits the non-stationary phase ofthe reaction to be followed. In this way the velocity coefficients for theelementary steps of these reactions have been measured and compared with thevalues obtained by other non-stationary state methods and by the rotating sectortechnique.
