Velocity constants at 1 and 3000 kg./cm.2 pressure and at various tem­peratures have been measured for the reactions in dilute acetone solution, of pyridine with methyl,n -butyl andiso propyl iodides, andn -butyl bromide, and also the reactions of isopropyl iodide with trimethylamine, triethylamine, and dimethylaniline. The latter reaction has also been studied up to 12,000 kg./cm.2 Values ofE , the energy of activation, andA , the constant of the Arrhenius equation, have been calculated wherever possible.
