Our goal was to quantify the sinking velocities of fecal pellets produced by gonozooids of the doliolid  Dolioletta gegenbauri  and females of the calanoid copepod  Eucalanus pileatus , which were offered various phytoplankton species and natural particulate matter, separately. Doliolid pellets were found to sink about two to three times slower than in previous studies.
