• We assessed the impact of the implementation of a rapid molecular assay applied to positive blood cultures on clinical care of pediatric patients with S. aureus bacteremia coupled with an Infectious Diseases (ID) Consultation A. Intervention • A rapid multiplex PCR (rPCR) for positive blood cultures (FilmArray BCID panel – BioFire, Salt Lake City, UT) was implemented at Children’s Mercy Hospital in July 2014 • Identification of MSSA or MRSA from blood using rPCR triggers a formal ID consult for each patient (Figure 2)
