Experimental plots were set up in a citrus orchard at the Hiroshima Fruit Tree Experimental Station and at the Okitsu Branch, Fruit Tree Research Station, Shizuoka, Japan. Plot sizes were 1,400 m2 and 4,000 m2 . Each total-orchard treatment was applied with 4,000 liters per hectare with a motorized sprayer on 24 June 1980 and 16 June 1981. Single trees, each surrounded by untreated trees, were also used as fenpropathrin plots. Data are means of six replications in total-orchard treatment and three replications in the single-tree treatment, with adult mites recorded from the 60 randomly selected leaves per tree and expressed as a number per 100 leaves.
