Peach, Insecticide Trials, 1980

The test was conducted in peach orchards at the Southeastern Fruit and Tree Nut Res. Stn., Byron, Ga. The 5-year-old orchard was square, an 0.8-ha block, planted in 6.1 by 6.1m spacings, 14 trees by 14 rows. The orchards were quartered into four plots (7 by 7 trees) and treatments were assigned to each plot randomly. Pre-measured portions of the insecticides were added to 50 gal of water in an air-blast sprayer. Each tree (49 per plot) received ca. 1 gal of solution. Application dates were as follows: 19 Mar., 2 Apr., 12 Apr., 24 Apr., 8 May, 29 May, 12 June, and 26 Jun. The test plots also received a complete fungicide program utilizing both Benlate and Captan. Sampling for OFM, PC, and CFI were taken from the nine center trees (3 by 3) in the 49 tree (7 by 7) treatment plots. Ten fruit per tree were removed periodically and examined for PC feeding and egg laying scars and also, CFI scars. Data were submitted to analysis of variance, one-way classification.
