Control of White Grubs with Homeowner Formulations of Oftanol, 1983

This study was conducted on a golf course fairway/rough in Syracuse, N.Y., with mixed populations of R. majalis and P. japonica. All materials were applied at 2 lb (AD/acre on 5 May, with a precalibrated Gandy 2.5 spreader. All treatments were replicated four times in a RCB design. No irrigation was applied after treatment, however, soil moisture was above field capacity. All plots were sampled on 6 Jun. and 3 Nov. A 0.18 m2 section of sod, ca. 6.2 cm deep, was removed from the center of each plot, inspected on the spot (June) or returned to the laboratory (Nov.) and the number of healthy grubs recorded.
