Foliar Insecticides for Control of Potato Pests, 1982

‘Russet Burbank’ potatoes were planted 20 May, at the Rosemount Agrie. Exp. St., Dakota Co., Minn. Treatments were applied to 4-row plots, 60 ft long, with 40-inch row spacing, randomized in complete blocks with three replications. Two untreated rows separated each plot. Bravo fungicide was applied weekly per label recommendations from 2 Jun. to the end of the season. Insecticides were applied with a tractor-drawn boom sprayer with three drop nozzles per row delivering ca 72 gal water/acre at ca 250 lb/in2 . Insecticides were applied 14 Jul., 28 Jul., 11 Aug., 25 Aug., and 8 Sep. Potato leafhopper nymphs and green peach aphid apterae were counted from 35 mid-plant leaves from the center two rows of each plot. Counts were made the day before and the day after spraying.
