Pounce EC formulation was diluted with water and applied as a broadcast spray to Chinese cabbage plots at the recommended rate of 0.1 lb (AD/40 gal of water/acre or twice the recommended rate. Treatment began on 4 Aug. 1981, and continued every 6 days, ending on 22 Sept. 1981, for a total of eight applications. There were four replications of each treatment. The laboratory procedure used for sampling, extraction, and cleanup of extract is available on request. Residues were determined on samples taken 0, 1, and 3 days after the last treatment. The residues were determined with a Hewlett-Packard 5840A gas chromatograph equipped with an electron capture detector. Column: 5% QF-1 on Supelcoport (100/120 mesh), glass (4 ft by 3/16 in.). Known amounts of pure permethrin and its two metabolites (acid and alcohol) were added in the range of 0.01 to 1.00 ppm to untreated control samples and the percent recovery was determined.
