Experimental and registered insecticides were evaluated for efficacy against Japanese beetle on soybeans at the Tobacco Experiment Station, Greeneville, TN. Soybeans were planted in 38 inch rows on May 24. Plots were 6 rows x 20 ft with treatments replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Insecticides were applied to the center 2 rows/plot with a 2 gal hand sprayer at 50 gal/acre spray. One treated row/plot was sampled by taking 5 sweeps along the row (ca 15 row ft) with a 15 inch dia insect net. The sample row was rotated on each date to reduce plant damage. The center 2 rows/plot were harvested on Oct 20.
