Four replications of 20 three-day-old adult females were treated in a Potter’s spray tower. Insecticides were applied as 0.075% sprays. Based on the surface area of the petri dishes in which the insects were treated the rate was equivalent to 0.75 kg ai/ha. After treatment, insects wee placed into a 500 ml beaker containing 10-day-old rice seedlings. Mortality was recorded at 1, 4, 24 and 48 hr after treatment (HT). M-9918, dioxacarb, M-10604, methidathion and UC-27867 were effective at 48 HT ( 80% control). M-9918 and dioxacarb treatments had the most rapid knockdown causing 98% mortality at 1 HT.
