Two formulations of FMC 35001 were tested at 3 rates compared to a standard treatment (Cygon) for control of citrus thrips on Valencia oranges at the Yuma Mesa Experiment Station. Sprays were applied at the rate of 3 gal/tree (200 gal/acre) on Apr 12 with a handgun (pistol -type) and Bean Sprayer. Plots consisted of 3 trees and were replicated 4 times (3 × 4 = 12 trees/treatment) and randomized within 4 blocks. Thrips (adults and nymphs) were counted in the field with the “black box” technique (rapping terminals sharply 5 times on a screen-covered box - 6×8 inches).
