Marigold, Flower Thrips, Twospotted Spider Mite and Aphid Control, 1979

Eleven treatments were applied to 'Lemon Drop' marigolds at the Federated Church, West Lafayette, Indiana on July 3'79. Foliar application were made with a B & G stainless steel sprayer operating at 30 psi. A randomized block design with 3 replicates was used. The temperature was 82°F at the time of application. Each plot consisted of an individual plant 8-10 inches high. One month after treatment on Aug 5th 5-6 inch foliage and flower samples were removed, bagged, taken to the laboratory and placed in a Berlese funnel. The thrips, aphids and mites collected were counted under a binocular microscope.
