Insecticides were applied on 45 day-old plants at a rate of 200, 100, 50 and 25 g ai/ha at the IRRI laboratory in Manila. Four replications of 10 insects each were placed on the plants at 1, 7 and 14 days after treatment (DT). Mortality readings were taken at 48 hours after placing the hoppers on the treated plants. The study was conducted at a temperature of 27 t 1C. Mortality values were adjusted using Abbott’s formula.
