Award (fenoxycarb) 1% bait formulation was evaluated for control of a species of carpenter ant around urban buildings in Albuquerque, NM. Colonies were located around foundations, fences, and street curbs and checked for activity, mapped for location, and counts made of active ants by removing the covering over the mound. Most colonies were found along foundations in areas where plastic sheeting was covered with rocks or crushed lava. Application was made on 11 Jun by applying 2 tablespoons of formulation to the colony locations. Award was applied to 7 colonies, and 4 colonies served as a check.
