A small plot insecticide screening trial was conducted at the Central Research Station (Ben Hur Farm) near Baton Rouge, LA, to evaluate the efficacy of selected insecticides for control of SGSB and VBC. Plots measuring 4 rows (0.91 m row spacing) by 15 m were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 blocks. Insecticides were applied with a tractor and CO2-pressurized sprayer calibrated to deliver 93.5 liters/ha at 0.98 kg/cm2 through 8002 flat fan nozzles. Treatments were applied on 21 Sep to soybeans in the R5 plant growth stage. Kinetic surfactant (3.9 ml form, material/liter finished spray) was added to NTN 33893. Posttreatment samples consisted of one set of 25 sweeps per plot (38.2 cm diam sweep net) taken at 2, 7, 10, and 14 DAT.
