Control of European Corn Borer in Whorl Stage Corn, 1991

The experimental design was randomized complete block with 16 insecticide treatments and a control replicated 3 times. Single row plots were 16.6 m in length. Granular insecticides were applied with cone belt distributors mounted on a Hahn Hi-Boy. Application date was 28 Jun. Two days prior to insecticide application 6 black head ECB egg masses were attached to marked plants for later evaluation. On 27 Jul, 10 marked plants in each replicate were dissected from tassel to ground, examined, and the number of corn borer cavities recorded.
