Seven treatments were applied to evaluate Cooley spruce gall adelgid on heavily infested 6-8 ft Douglas-fir Christmas trees. Treatments were applied on 25 Apr and arranged in a randomized complete block design. Each treatment was replicated 4 times. Foliar treatments were completed by using a C02 compressed air sprayer with a hollow cone nozzle operating at 28 psi. Treatments were applied at the rate of 100 gal/acre (302 ml/tree). At treatment time the following conditions existed: air temperature, 77-82°F and skies were cloudy. Posttreatment counts were completed on 19 Jul. Each treatment was evaluated by selecting 4 cardinal locations on each tree and counting 25 needles at each location and recording the number of Cooley spruce gall damaged needles.
