Mite Control on Louisiana Pecans, 1989

Three miticides were evaluated for control of the PLSM on pecan. The study was conducted at the LSU Pecan Research-Extension Station, Robson, LA on 54 yr old ‘Stuart’ pecan trees. Plots were laid out in a randomized complete block design consisting of 3 blocks, with one tree/treatment/block. Pretreatment counts were made on 17 Aug. Applications of foliar applied materials were made on 18 Aug using an FMC 957 CPD speed sprayer calibrated to deliver 32 gal of finished spray/tree (288 gal/acre). Posttreatment counts were made 7, 14, and 21 d after treatments were applied. Sampling consisted of counting the number of mites (adults plus larvae) and mite eggs on 10 pair of leaflets on each tree. Data were subjected to analysis of variance.
