Corn was planted 8 May in plots 4 rows wide and 20 ft long arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replicates. The granular insecticides were applied at planting. The soil type was Houston clay. Furadan on corncob and clay granules was compared with Counter, Temik, and an untreated control. Twenty-five seedling plants were pulled 4 d after seedling emergence on 19 May. These seedlings were beaten 25 times over hardware cloth and thrips were counted.
