Plots were located in a grower’s field of transplant onions in Rocky Ford, Colo. Previous applications of ethyl parathion to the field gave poor thrips control indicating development of an insecticide resistant strain of the thrips. Plots were 4 rows, 25 ft long, arranged in a randomized complete block with 4 replications. Applications were made 21 Jim using a CO2 compressed-air sprayer delivering 34.5 gal/acre at 34 psi. Treatments were directed into the whorls, and spray mixtures included Bond at the rate of 4 oz/acre. Plots were evaluated 2 and 4 DAT by counting all thrips found in 5 randomly selected plants/plot.
