Plots 8 rows × 50 ft, located on the Cotton Branch Station, Marianna, Ark., were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications and separated by 4 fallow rows or 5-ft alleys. Foliar applications were made as squaring rates decreased and weevil infestations increased on 28 and 31 Jul and 3 Aug with a Spirit high-clearance sprayer calibrated to deliver 8 gal/acre. Infestation levels were compared by examining 100 squares/plot/date for weevil egg and feeding punctures. The same standard treatment, Guthion, was repeated as 4 separate treatments.
