Each treatment was applied to 10 chry santhemum plants ca. 4 weeks old which had been pinched to 3 leaves per plant. Citation granular and tablets were applied to soil 13 Aug. On 16 Aug, all plants were exposed to a laboratory colony of leafminers for 20 min, to achieve uniform oviposition. On the morning of 21 Aug, the number of larvae on each plant was counted with the aid of a hand lens and transmitted light, and on that afternoon foliar materials were applied. At the time of application, larvai were predominantly in the late second and early third instar. After the applied materials had dried, plants were individually tipped over sand-filled mea; trays to collect emerging larvae. Pupae were counted and held for adult emergence.
