Banded Sunflower Moth Larval and Seed Weevil Adult Control in Sunflower, 1985

A trial was established in a growers lield near Breckenridge, MN. Individual plot size was 4-30 inch rows × 30 ft in length. Treatments were replicated 3 times and arranged in a randomized :mplete block design. Insecticides were applied 8 Aug with a temperatures of 80F and plant stage 50% 5.1. Applications were made using a hand held CO2 sprayer with flat fan nozzles, a pressure of 40 psi and using approximately 20 gal total material per acre. Heads from 20 ft of row from the center 2 rows vere harvested and dried. Heads were crushed and a precleaning sample removed. BSM & SW infested seeds were counted, and the total material then jleaned. Clean seed weights were recorded for yields.
