Several acaricides were evaluated against mites in an apple block at Steeles Tavern. The block included cultivars ‘Delicious’, ‘Golden Delicious’, ‘Stayman’ and ‘York’. Four, single-tree replicates were used in a randomized complete block design. Applications were made on 3 Jun, using a truck-mounted Swanson sprayer with handgun attachment. Trees were sprayed to drip (ca. 1869 liters/ha (200 gal/A)). Mites were evaluated using a leaf-brushing machine and 20 leaves per replicate. Because of low ERM densities in all plots, a spray of fenvalerate (1.17 liters/ha (1 pt/A)) was applied on 16 Jul.
