Corn Earworm Control with Foliar Insecticides, 1985

Insecticides were foliar-applied on 28 Aug, on ‘Essex’ soybean conventionally planted on a 36-inch row spacing on the Russell Settle farm in Richmond County, VA. Individual plots were 4 rows × 75 ft spaced 6 ft apart with 3-ft alleys. A complete randomized block experimental design was utilized with 4 replications. Each spray concentrate was applied with a CO2 powered compressed air sprayer at 29 psi that delivered 22.7 gal of finished formulation per acre. Individual treatments were evaluated 1, 3, and 7 days after application by comparing the number of CEW per 25 sweeps in the treated plots to those in the untreated checks.
