Alfalfa Weevil Control, Louisiana, 1985

The test was conducted at the Red River Research Station on the first cutting of Fla. ‘7’ alfalfa. Plots were 6.4 m by 9.1 m and treatments were replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block design. Spray treatments were applied on 15 Mar with a CO2 backpack sprayer calibrated to 20.2 gpa and 36 psi, using 8002 flat-fan nozzles on a 2.1-m boom. Conditions at treatment were air temperature 10°C with <2 mph wind. Precipitation during the test period was 9.07 cm. Samples were obtained at pretreatment and 3, 7 and 14 days posttreatment with a 38-cm diam sweep net by taking 10 pendulum sweeps per plot.
