Naturally infested pre-bud stage alfalfa (12 inches tall) was treated on Apr 20 ’85. Thirteen insecticides and 2 untreated control plots were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. All plots measured 6 by 9 m. Sprays were applied in water (20 gpa) with a carbon dioxide-powered backpack sprayer equipped with 80 degree hollow cone nozzles.
