Corn was planted 2 Apr, ’84, at the University of Georgia Experiment Station, Oconee Co. Soil type was Appling coarse sandy loam. A randomized complete block experimental design with 2-row plots x 6.5-m long x 1-m row width x 1-m alleys and with 5 replicates was used. Plants were treated with a full cone spray using an air pressure sprayer at 30 psi in a final volume of 500 1/ha directed on the plant ears. Plots were sprayed 9 times beginning at the initiation of silking on 15 Jun, and continuing 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29 Jun, 2, and 4 Jul. All ears in the center 6 m of row were examined on 6 Jul for the presence of corn earworm larvae or damage.
