On 7 Aug established nursery-grown azaleas were used to test 4 insecticides for control of azalea caterpillar. Larval counts of the replicated treatments were made prior to treatment and 48 h after treatment. Insecticides were applied using a 1-gal B & G compressed air sprayer at 30 psi. Plants were treated to runoff. Temperature at time of treatment was 78°F and no rainfall occurred prior to evaluation. The insecticides were all effective in controlling the azalea caterpillars within 48h. No phytotoxicity was observed.
