Second Generation European Corn Borer Chemigation Trial, Wray, Colorado, 1984

Plots in both circles were ca. 7-acre sectors. Circle L-4 was planted to Dekalb T-1100 and W-5 was planted to Dekalb 484. Both circles had Lockwood sprinklers; L-4 with 360-degree Seninger low-pressure nozzles and W-5 with 180-degree low-pressure nozzles. Both sprinklers ran at 100% and delivered 0.25 inches of water/acre. Treatments were injected with a Pulsa-Feeder Rl Hydracone metering pump. Oil treatments were mixed with once-refined cottonseed oil. Applications were made on L-4 on 14 Aug and on W-5 on 12 Aug. Circle L-4 had received 0.75 lb (AI)/acre Lorsban 4E at 2 weeks after emergence to control alfalfa webworm and another 1 lb to control first generation European corn borer. Mites were rated on the Schweissing 0-4 scale, where 0 = no damage and 4 = all leaves destroyed.
