‘Russet Burbank’ potatoes were planted May 17, at Rosemount, Minnesota. Foliar insecticidal sprays were applied July 15, July 29, August 12, August 26, and September 9, in 90 gal water/acre at 250 psi. A tractor drawn boom sprayer with drop nozzles, 3 nozzles/row, was used. Plots were 4 rows, 60 ft long, randomized in complete blocks with 3 replications. Fungicidal sprays of Dithane M-45, Bravo, or Difolatan were applied weekly from June 20. Counts were made of the nymphs of potato leafhopper and apterae of the green peach aphid. The counts consisted of sampling 35 randomly selected, mid-plant leaves from the center 2 rows of each plot. Counts were made 1 day prior to spraying and 1 day after spraying.
