Famphur Dose Titration for H. Lineatum Control, 1975

Mixed breed heifer, bull, and steer calves, averaging 416 lb each, were administered a 35% famphur injectable formulation by intramuscular inoculation on August 13, 1975. Twenty-six animals were assigned to each of 4 treatment groups corresponding to famphur dosage levels of 0, 1, 2, or 3 cc/100 lb body weight. Doses were calculated to the nearest whole cc. Volumes greater than 10 cc were divided in half and infected in 2 sites. Animals were examined for the appearance of warble formation on October 31, November 28, and December 19, 1975. The greatest number of warbles recorded for a single animal was used to analyze data due to variation in the times of appearance of grubs in the back.
