Third-year trees in a 3.75 x 3.75 m spaced planting on Sharkey clay soil at Stoneville, Miss., were heavily infested with C. scripta. Five trees were randomly selected in the 1.62-ha area and inspected for insects on April 30, 1974. On May 3 Dursban was applied to the area with a Span-sprayer delivering 0.59 l/4iQ of spray containing 140 g ai/ha (1/8 lb/A). Post-spray collections of all target and non-target insects were made from each of the five selected trees 20 and 72 hours after spraying.
