Analysis of the STK11/LKB1 gene in ovarian serous cystadenocarcinomas indicates that most cases have copy number deletions. Conditional deletion of Stk11 in murine ovarian surface epithelium resulted in hyperplasia, but deletion on a Pten-deleted background lead to serous ovarian cancer.
