This experiment was conducted at the VPI and SU Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Blackstone, VA, to evaluate tobacco flea beetle control on flue-cured tobacco with various foliar insecticides. Tobacco was transplanted into experimental plots on 12 May. The text tobacco was cut back on 26 Jul and a single sucker was turned out on each plant. Six treatments and an untreated control were established in a RCBD with 4 replications. Plots, 4 × 20 ft (1 row × 11 plants), were separated by single untreated guard rows. Foliar treatments were applied with a CO2-pressurized backpack sprayer that delivered 27 gal/acre at 60 psi through 3 TX-10 nozzles/row on 30 Aug. Tobacco flea beetle populations were estimated on 1 side of 5 plants per plot before treatment and at 2, 8, and 13 DAT. Data were analyzed by ANOVA and significantly different means were separated using DMRT. Flea beetle counts were transformed to Log10(x + 1) before ANOVA. Actual means are presented in the table.
